2 BBS Bandung Students Awarded TOP IN INDONESIA for Cambridge AS Levels, Series of 2022

  • By: Josephine Chloe Confido, Secondary 3

Xiao Mi Sun and Darren Wilson Tjiong of Junior College 2 Grace students made the school proud by achieving Top in Indonesia awards in the Cambridge International AS Levels, October-November 2022 Series. These awards were achieved in the Chinese Language for Xiao Mi and Physics for Darren, who managed to reach a staggering score of 97% in the exam. Bina Bangsa School Bandung is incredibly proud of its students for their achievements, and the School Principal, Mr. Frederick Lopez Laurente, has expressed his appreciation, too.

'There are no adjectives that I can use because it is too difficult to express how proud I am. I am very proud and knowing that the school has managed to nurture two top winners. It makes me feel like the proudest School Principal,' he remarked.

When the winners were interviewed about their learning journey in achieving their awards, they explained that their hard work came in different forms.

'For me, I worked hard and practiced with past year papers and reviews, as well as attended extra lessons outside of school. I think what's important is not giving up. Keep going, keep practicing' because practice makes perfect,' explained Darren.

Xiao Mi, on the other hand, described her more laid-back journey in making the subject more intriguing for her:

'I spent time trying to read and watch movies, I also paid attention in class. But essentially, Chinese is a difficult subject and my advice to everyone is to keep believing in yourself, because nothing is impossible. Don't give up easily.'

The School Principal also left a message for those students aspiring to achieve the same achievements as the two JC 2 students: "Believe in yourself. I believe that all abilities are equal, it is just a matter of how these abilities are used.'

Once again, Bina Bangsa School Bandung expresses its utmost pride and gratitude for these Top in Indonesia awards that have been achieved through no easy work, but rather hard work and perseverance.

These two awards are additional to the 6 existing Top in Indonesia awards that BBS Bandung already had: Suzanne Roys (IGCSE Sociology, 2013), Steven Teguhlaksana (AS Biology and Chemistry, 2017), Darren Natanael (IGCSE Sociology, 2018), Kyle Gaius Johnsson (AS Biology and General Paper, 2018).

We wish the best of luck to those who strive to achieve these awards as well!
