Valerine Wijono of BBS Bandung Represents Jawa Barat to the National Schools Debating Championship 22

Valerine Hillary Wijono of BBS Bandung, represented Jawa Barat in the most prestigious debate competition in Indonesia, the National Schools Debating Championship (NSDCC), where she ranked 11th out of more than 5,300 debaters from all around Indonesia.

 

The Championship Round was held on 19 October 2022, where the Bina Bangsa School Team won 3 gold medals and one bronze medal. The team was composed of students from BBS Bandung, BBS Pantai Indah Kapuk, BBS Malang, and BBS Semarang. 

 

The National Schools Debating Championship (NSDC) is an annual debating competition participated in by students across Indonesia. The event is being hosted and organised by the Indonesian Ministry of Education. 

 

The debate follows the Asian Parliamentary Debate format and is conducted in the English language.

- 4th Best Speaker (Gold Medalist)

 

Earlier in October, Valerine also competed in another debate competition, SETARA. Here, along with her teammates under the name 'Joji and His Fangirls' won the gold medal.

Valerine was also in the top 10 speakers as Co-4th best speaker!

 

The SETARA debate competition is held every year around October. This year, the event was held online with the theme "Recovering the Globe''. From the theme aforementioned, SETARA hopes to increase the care of the nation and take further responsibility for taking care of the world despite the ongoing pandemic. 

 

Moreover, earlier this academic year, Valerine also won the Overall Best Individual Speaker and 3rd winner of the Asia Law Students Association (ALSA) Universitas Indonesia Debate Competition 2022.

 

Apart from this, she also won in the TELKOM Debate Competition 2022 where she received the following awards:

 

- Best Novice Speaker

 

- 3rd Open Best Speaker

 

- Grand finalist and Runner-up
