Ever since the school's founding in 2001, the Bina Bangsa School (BBS) way of learning has always emphasised a great deal of pride in embracing our Chinese cultural heritage. In line with this mission, we are proud to be among the first SPK schools in Indonesia to introduce a Chinese language subject two decades ago. 

Today, BBS has achieved a status as one of the highly-regarded SPK schools in Indonesia, with more than 4,000 students across six campuses and a list of commendations from Cambridge for our students' academic performance. Beyond our academic footprints, our Chinese language program, taught by native speakers, has consistently grown in line with the standards of the Singapore education system. Our school's Chinese language subject is believed to be the top among SPK schools in Indonesia. 

But you might wonder, why would we invest a significant effort in developing a top of the class Chinese language program and preserving our Chinese heritage?

The Chinese culture is historically rich, contributing to many advancements in society in its 5000 years of history, such as the first documented papermaking process during the Eastern Han period. In addition to its profound historical value, the Chinese culture is also one of the values that remain relevant today, such as family, loyalty, courage, and belief in a strong work ethic. 

In BBS, our students get to benefit from a multicultural learning experience that employs a Singaporean-style Cambridge curriculum taught by a teaching staff mostly of native English speakers, allowing students to receive the benefits of both the merits of Chinese cultural values and an internationally recognised education programme.

Through an education programme that balances a quality Western education with Chinese values, students can become the best version of themselves, both academically and individually. Inspired by traditional Chinese values of perseverance, diligence, and hard work, we believe in the importance of the core values that we teach to our students as we prepare them for life beyond school. 

Unlike most SPK schools that also use the Cambridge curriculum, BBS adopts the Cambridge programmes used in Singapore. 

Although English is the language of instruction in BBS, Chinese and Bahasa Indonesia are also taught as second languages. We believe that once they graduate, our students will venture into a highly competitive and globalised world, where the East Asian region is considered a significant role in that world. Learning these languages would provide them with the edge to rise above the rest.

In addition to the Cambridge curriculum, BBS encourages students to participate in co-curricular activities (CCAs) outside of the curriculum so that they could further explore their interests and passions. We encourage our students to also explore their cultural heritage through these CCAs, such as our Chinese Orchestra program that performed at the 70th-anniversary celebration of the founding of the People'sPeople's Republic of China. 

Here at BBS, we believe in the importance of cultural preservation, especially in the globalised world that we live in today. As our students continue their journey outside of our school and venture into the world, it is essential for them to remember and remain rooted in their culture and where they come from.
