Mathematics Outreach Visit

BBS KJS is certainly at the forefront in promoting Mathematics and Computing amongst its students. One way this is done is by encouraging its students to participate in various Mathematics and Computing contests like those organised by the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing [CEMC] of the University of Waterloo.

The desire to draw out and help nurture the hidden Mathematical and Computing talent of our students is the primary reason for BBS KJS to create opportunities for them to join challenging and exciting competitions such as the CANADIAN COMPUTING COMPETITION, PASCAL, EUCLID and so on.

BBS KJS has now agreed to receive the visit of Professor Troy Vasiga as part of the CEMC’s outreach programme. His visit to BBS KJS will be on March 12, 2018 and is specifically targeted at JC1 students. The session will be from 1100 until 1245, during which time he will conduct a Mathematics workshop. Students are encouraged to actively participate in order to fully benefit from this interactive session.

Also, you will be introduced to some exciting careers related to Mathematics and Computer Science that will ultimately give you the required tools and skills to best solve various real-life problems.

Following the workshop, Dr. Vasiga will  offer a brief presentation about studying in Canada, how the University of Waterloo is different than other universities and discuss the program options at the University of Waterloo with a focus on their Faculty of Mathematics’ programs.

Though Dr. Vasiga’s visit is intended for only the JC1 students, I am posting 5 challenging problems;

Problem A

Problem B

Problem C

Problem D

Problem E

for ALL students to try out, because each problem is designed for students of different grades. If you are able to solve them, please post your solution as a jpeg file for all to see.

Wishing you a fun-filled Mathematics journey.
