Bridging You To The Outside World

We Love You Teachers

A Look at The Teacher’s Day Celebration

The students of Bina Bangsa School Kebon Jeruk commemorated teachers’ day on the first day of February. We celebrated the occasion to thank them for all they have done for us and for everything they have taught us, both academics and values.

We started the day with our regular classes, but midday, all the students went up to the hall to attend the celebration. The hall was stunningly decorated with colorful banners and garlands. In my opinion, one of the best decorations was the post-it wall. It was simply a wall that was full with post-its that were placed in specific positions so that when you look at it from afar, it spells the words ‘WE LOVE YOU TEACHERS’. In each of the post-its, the students can write their own wishes for the teachers to read.

The hosts, Dennis and Florencia, introduced themselves and the celebration started with an opening prayer lead by Jason from JC1. It was followed by a short speech by our principal, Mr Lee TJ. The level performances came next. The Secondary 3 students performed a song which they choreographed themselves, the Secondary 2 students read out a touching message to the teachers, and the JC 1 students entertained us with some beatboxing.

In between the level performances, there were fun games for us to play like ‘Guess the Teacher’ and also videos of interviews with students, where ‘Student Willy’ was featured, talking about his lifelong dream to become a teacher. 😉

However, the teachers also performed. The music teachers came on stage along with Mr Ricky and Mr. Winson to perform some songs. Wen Xiao Lan Laoshi also sang a song, accompanied by Christabelle from Secondary 3 on the piano. Both performances were definitely very entertaining. The performances received a great reaction from the audience, as the students cheered and clapped fervently.

Later on, before the final performance, the hosts held the annual teacher awards.

Here are the list of winners:

Best Handwriting: Mr Eduardo
Most Cheerful: Ms Angie
Most ‘Jayus’: Mr Willy
Longest Running: Ms Dian
Most Photogenic: Mr Rogel

The final performance was a song by the Secondary 1 students. While they were performing, some prefects came out from the backstage area and started handing out personalized goody bags for every single teacher. The bags each contain a personal card from the teachers’ form class, where the students wrote their messages on a piece of paper. It also contained some snacks for the teachers to treat themselves to.

Overall, it was a great celebration, and we, the students, all hope that the teachers enjoyed it as much as we did. To our teachers, we would like to say thank you for teaching us with patience and tolerating us even though we misbehave sometimes. We may not show it, but we really appreciate your efforts and the countless lessons you taught us. We will always remember them.
