The Bicultural Studies Program (BSP) aims to make bilingual student leaders and ambassadors. Those who have signed up have gone through a selection. They need to complete a series of requirements to officially become the  ambassadors of the school.

One week before the day, we were asked to make up and lead a dance with our teachers. Throughout that whole week, we practiced with diligence and determination.
On the 5th of February, we left to our destination at 2 35. We anticipated heavy traffic but were pleasantly surprised to see none at all. We arrived at PIK 2 hours before the programme and were given free time.

Two PIK teachers took turns to speak in english and chinese as they briefed us about the programme. They were good hosts as they kept us attentive with their humour and games. We then continued to have a working dinner where we were given the opportunity to socialise and make friends.
We then split into our Plenary groups  (food, games, myths & legends, music) and discuss the events each group were hosting tomorrow. We took a group photo before we make our journey home.

The next day, we arrived at 7 30 and practiced our dance again. However, our nerves got the best of us and, truth be told, we got an earful. We practiced more behind the hall and did it correctly that time.
The PIK teachers have worked extremely hard with their creative minds to create a game for us to develop our social skills. Each person were given certain amounts of materials and we had to complete scenarios and negotiate. Those with most materials will win.

Through the game, we get to develop our negotiation, mathematical, social and problem solving skills. Our own student from our campus won first with a prize of 150 rupiah MAP voucher.
Then came the Plenary sessions. First up is food where they present both western and eastern foods. We also got to try said foods. Next is music where we guess the western and eastern songs and get prizes in return. After that, it was the games session. We played snakes and dodgeball where teams of 9 go against each other. Thankfully, no one got hurt. We continued to myths& legends session where we played charades based on greek and chinese mythology.

After all that, it was time for our performance. Initially, we were nervous. However, when we started dancing on stage, the PIK and Semarang students were so kind and encouraging that all our nerves disappeared. Everyone participated and in result, we all had fun together.
Unfortunately, it was time to say our goodbyes. We took one last group photo and departed to go to KJ for MUN.

This conference taught us a lot of things. Not only did we learn more about eastern and western culture but we also learn more about each other and developed skills needed to be student leaders.
We hope more students join BSP and become a potential student ambassador and student leader.
