Here is a speech from one of our students showing her love for Indonesia.

Love to My Country

Showing one’s love to your country is easier said than done. Being a young and fortunate girl, studying in Bina Bangsa School, of course it is not possible for me to join the military and to fight in wars to defend my country. In fact, there are no wars to fight. But I love this country without a doubt, a country where there is peace, the country where I was born, where I spend my youth and probably the country where I would someday die.

For me, showing love for my country is to study hard, get the knowledge and build my character for my future career and to contribute back to society. Learning the history about Indonesia is also very important. How the country was established, the dreams of the founding fathers and the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom of Indonesia. Visiting the museum will help us to understand the sacrifices of these heroes. But for us today, the task is surely not as tough as for the heroes. We just have to contribute our talents and commitment to the future of Indonesia.

Another way to show love for our country is for students of my age to visit the less fortunate children in homes and orphanages, and make donation to them. This will help the less fortunate children not to lose hope since they are part of the future of our country. Never discriminate anyone based on race, religion, tribe, skin color or origin. This is very essential since Indonesia is a multi-cultural, multi-religion and multi-ethnic society, committed to a UNITED INDONESIA. We must appreciate our UNITY IN DIVERSITY.

In conclusion, we can show our love to the country by being a diligent students. And with this, I invite all my friends to demonstrate our commitment and love for our country, as we celebrate our 72nd Independence Day on August 17. MERDEKA!
