Nine students from Bina Bangsa (Kebun Jerok) attended the winter camp in Jilin, China. Campers included school teachers and students from Bina Bangsa, Indonesia Methodist School and also from Malaysia and Brazil.
The camp was highly regarded by the Jilin provincial government and the students and teachers received a very warm reception from them. Students gained new insights about Chinese culture and found opportunities to improve their Mandarin. They saw mainland China and the Chinese people with a fresh and personal perspective.
Our students not only got to meet new friends but also enjoyed their time at the Snow World. They look forward to new opportunities to visit mainland China and participate in school camps there again.
Student Testimonial
Participating in the ‘Overseas Chinese Roots-seeking’ winter camp in Jilin was a wonderful decision I made. I learned a lot about Chinese culture and also enjoyed the trip that was provided by the Jilin province government. Aside from that I also made some new friends from Indonesia, Malaysia and Brazil.
The Chinese students and teachers from Malaysia and Brazil were very fluent in Mandarin. At the camp, we were required to speak Mandarin and the teachers that helped out at the winter camp were all very friendly and caring.
The winter camp also gave us a lot new experiences such as learning Chinese Kung-Fu, performing Chinese traditional dance, and also studying a Chinese musical instrument called hulu shi.
It was a great time for me to be at Jilin and I really hope to be able to participate again in the next winter camp in mainland China.
