The 7th-11th of November 2016 had been very entertaining since it was the most- awaited celebration of the Language Week. There were 4 different languages that were featured in our morning devotion for the whole week : Bahasa Indonesia, English, Chinese and Filipino.
The week-long event was hosted and spearheaded by the English Department. The celebration carried the theme: Imagine, Create, Connect. On the first day, Monday, 7th November 2016, there was an impromptu speech competition performed by the JC1’s. The next day, we had the commercial videos for teens contest. The activity was designed to educate the students about the challenges that teens struggle with. On Wednesday, 9th November 2016, the Secondary 1 students brought us two great heights when they showcased their acting prowess through their very entertaining Chamber Theater featuring two of the great short stories entitled “Why Women Wash the Dishes” by Filomena Colendrino and Guy de Maupassant’s “The Necklace”.
On the fourth day of the celebration, the Secondary 4 students brought us the very entertaining Dub Smash videos. All the winners were announced on Friday of the week, 11th November 2016. Mr. TJ Lee, our principal, delivered a very inspiring speech to close the week-long activity. The Secondary 2 students presented an excerpt of the great musical Annie and the classic Addam’s Family. The show was under the expert hand of Ms. Izrina. The Secondary 2 students were so cooperative and organized. Some of the Secondary 1 students performed a special song number by The Chainsmokers and Phoebe Ryan’s ‘All We Know’. The last and final event was the poster making contest. The posters were very creative. The students did a great job and wonderful performances which made the judging diffi-
cult. After the awarding was done, another surprise was shown to us but, this was from the teachers. The surprise was a dub smash video starring our very own teachers. Everyone had a great time. It was such a wonderful surprise!
After this great, fun and exciting experience, I bet the next Language week will be better than the last.
