On Thursday, the 15th of March, 2018, thespians and crew collaborated to present “Once Upon A Disaster”. This musical follows three teenagers who, with the eccentric magician Harvey, were transformed into fairy tale characters. Their mischiefs led to trouble, and sparked a journey of self-realization.
The culmination of several weeks of preparation, both cast and crew faced significant challenges. From procuring the unique costumes for the play to fighting the common cold, the rehearsals intensified as the date of the performance neared.
But it all paid off. Actors, from the novice to the experienced, showed off their talents. The smooth transitions between scenes propelled the audience into the world of the teenagers, who got acquainted—and antagonized—the characters in the fairy tales.
The camaraderie of theatre inspires. Perhaps it is the thrill of portraying new characters, or the snacks the entire team enjoyed together. As my last performance at BBS, it is inspiring to see theatre flourish. For that, thank you to the parents and staff for their continuous support.
