  • Abstract: SMART BIN PROJECT SUMMARY The Smart Bin project is designed to make waste disposal easier, cleaner, and more hygienic. Many people do not like to touch trash bins because they are dirty and can spread germs. In addition, some bins do not work well, causing the lid to not open properly and rubbish to fall outside. To solve this problem, we created a Smart Bin that uses a motion sensor. When a hand is placed near the bin, the lid opens automatically. The system works through four steps: detecting distance, sensing motion, activating a motor, and opening the lid. We tested the Smart Bin 50 times. The results showed that traditional bins often had problems such as lid failure, rubbish falling out, and more contact with germs. In comparison, the Smart Bin worked smoothly with very few problems. In conclusion, the Smart Bin helps improve hygiene, keeps the environment clean, and shows how simple technology can be used to create useful and efficient solutions in daily life.
