Student Council VIA x Leo Club Christmas Event: Spreading Joy Through Meaningful Service

By: Patricia Holly Setiawan

The Values in Action (VIA) Student Council Department in collaboration with the Leo Club organized a Christmas-themed service event focused on building empathy and encouraging meaningful contributions. The initiative managed to collect almost 5 million rupiah worth of donations from all classes (Secondary 1 to Junior College 2).

The recipient of the donations, Asuhan Annajah is an orphanage that provides care for children in need. Students showed great enthusiasm and generosity, with many classes contributing well beyond the minimum requirement. Some classes donated 100kg of rice as opposed to the minimum of 20kg. In addition to basic necessities (also known as “sembako” in Indonesian), students also donated extra stuffed animals, bracelets, and preloved toys.

Donated items were delivered by each class on 4 December 2025, ensuring that the supplies were well organized and ready for distribution. On 5 December 2025, a team of members from the Values in Action Department and Leo Club visited the orphanage to personally deliver the donations. The supplies collected were estimated to be sufficient to support approximately 45 children for several weeks, making a meaningful impact on their daily lives.

An official signed slip on the orphanage’s collaboration with Bina Bangsa Kebon Jeruk Secondary School’s Student Council and Leo Club. This collaboration has given the students the opportunity to serve beyond the confines of the classroom and embody the school mission to be a caring community. Indeed it is a reminder this festive season, that whatever you do for the least of your brethren, you do unto Christ.
