A Canvas of Thoughtful Minds

In Loving Memory of Ms Nameeta Mirpuri

By: Patricia Holly Setiawan S2N

The Bina Bangsa School Kebon Jeruk Secondary community gathers in profound sorrow as we honour with heartfelt fondness the life of Ms Nameeta Mirpuri (Indira Naraindas), who passed away on April 4, 2026, at the age of 51. Born on May 21, 1974, Ms Nameeta—fondly known as “Ms Nam”—was far more than a Business teacher. She was a mentor, a listener, and a guiding presence whose impact reached far beyond the classroom.

For many years, Ms Nameeta devoted herself wholeheartedly to her students and her calling as an educator. Her classroom was more than a place of learning; it was a space where students felt seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. Her lessons extended beyond textbooks, often enriched with stories, advice, and reflections from her own life—moments that became some of the most meaningful memories her students now hold on to.

Her students remember not only what she taught, but how she made them feel. Tristan Lucman (JC2) recalls how some of his favorite moments were simply walking to class with her, talking about anything and everything. In those everyday conversations, Ms Nameeta offered thoughtful guidance and steady support. Izabel Santoso (JC2) remembers her as “an incredibly kind person and a great teacher,” whose classes were always filled with warmth and enjoyment. Whether sharing life lessons or introducing students to films like The Devil Wears Prada, she made learning both engaging and memorable.

Her compassion was especially evident in moments when her students struggled. Kaythleen (JC2) shares how, during a time when she had fallen behind due to illness, Ms Nameeta took the time to offer extra lessons, comfort, and encouragement. Similarly, Jeremy (JC2) recalls feeling discouraged by his results, only to be reassured by Ms Nameeta that he was capable of more. “When I didn’t believe in myself, she did,” he reflects—a sentiment shared by many.

Her guidance extended into lasting life lessons. Jason Clayton (JC2) remembers a particularly impactful moment when she spoke about university life, her son, and the bond between parents and children—words that reflected the care she showed so naturally. To many, she was not just a teacher, but a second mother—someone who guided with both strength and kindness.

At the same time, Ms Nameeta brought light into every classroom she entered. Her humor, warmth, and lively spirit made lessons something students looked forward to. Shaka (S3) recalls how her jokes brought laughter into class, while her attentiveness ensured every student felt heard. Her explanations were clear and effective, but it was her kindness that truly set her apart.

Ms Nameeta Mirpuri leaves behind a legacy defined not only by academic excellence, but by the countless lives she touched with her empathy, wisdom, and unwavering belief in her students. She reminded them to work hard, to make thoughtful choices, and to never lose faith in themselves—even when they struggled to find it.

Her passing leaves a deep void within the school community. Yet, her legacy lives on—in every student she encouraged, every life she shaped, and every lesson she left behind.

Ms Nameeta’s many years at Bina Bangsa are truly cherished. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
