Language Week 2026 brought an engaging and lively celebration of communication, creativity, and culture to the school community. Held on February 9, 2026, at Bina Bangsa School Kebon Jeruk Secondary, the English and Humanities Day carried the theme “Moving Forward,” encouraging students to view language as a tool for growth, connection, and expression in an ever-changing world.
The event began with an entertaining short skit titled “Mind Your Language,” performed by S2 Newton. The skit revolved around a teacher guiding a class of foreign students through the complexities of English idioms. Through humor and exaggerated misunderstandings, the performance highlighted how language can both connect and confuse, leaving the audience amused while also deepening their appreciation for linguistic nuances. The students’ expressive acting and comedic timing brought energy to the stage, setting a positive tone for the rest of the event.
After the skit, students participated in an interactive house game called Rebus, conducted by Ms Sheila. In this activity, images were used to represent words or phrases, challenging students to think critically and creatively. Representatives from each house raced to the microphone to guess the correct answers, creating an atmosphere of excitement and friendly competition. The game not only tested students’ language skills but also encouraged quick thinking and teamwork among participants.
To wrap up the English and Humanities Day, a bonus house game organized by Ms Jac added a final burst of enthusiasm. This activity challenged the students to guess famous movies based on iconic quotes, prompting excitement as participants quickly tried to recall well-known lines. The game sparked laughter and lively reactions from the audience, as students connected language with popular culture as they cheered on their respective houses.
The English and Humanities Day truly embodied the spirit of “Moving Forward” by combining learning with fun and collaboration. Through performances and interactive games, students were reminded of the power of language in shaping ideas and bringing people together. The event highlighted both the importance and joy of communication within the school community.
